Ken Loach (natural June 17, 1936) is a British television and film director, known for his social realist style and socialist themes.
Biography
Born Kenneth Loach inside Nuneaton, England, he studied law at St Peter's College, Oxford. He began retired as an actor inside repertory theatre, but in the early 1960s moved into producing television docu-dramas, notably a socially influential Cathy Come Home (1966). In the late 1960s he moved into directing films, & mass produced Kes, the story of the riotous son & his kestrel, based on a novel The Kestrel for the Knave by Barry Hines. It remains perchance his better known film around Britain.
A 1970s and 80s were less successful, with his films suffering from either unfortunate distribution, want of interest & political censorship. His film A Save them Fund Film (1971) was commissioned by the charity, who disliked it such it attempted to stand a negative destroyed. It has eventually to exist as shown publically. He was likewise licensed by Channel 4 to make The Wonder of Leadership, the infotainment on the UK miners' strike. But, a program was withheld by Channel Four for political reasons.
Notwithstanding, a 1990s saw Loach link to to form, by owning the production of a series of critically acclaimed & popular films. When you took this time he was besides threefold awarded prizes at a Cannes Film Festival.
Inside December 2003, he was awarded an honorary doctorate per University of Birmingham.
Within November 2004, he was elected to the national council of the Respect coalition.
